On Saturday, December 5th from 10am – 4pm, St. James’ Youth Group hosted a Christmas Bazaar, in Hazelett Hall as a fundraiser. All proceeds went towards the church’s “Youth Fund.”
St. James’ children worked together to make fresh water pearl, jade, turquoise, amethyst and lapis gemstone necklaces and bracelets in honor of All Saints Day and donated them to the sale. Other parishioners donated homemade condiments, festive centerpieces, wreaths, swags, hand-knit items, prayer beads, ornaments, wine and cookies for the sale. Paula Thompson, Sarah Beck and Christina Robertson (Sarah Beck’s Mother) set up the tables for the Christmas Bazaar all day Friday, December 4th. Saturday, December 5th, St. James’ parishioners put signs out on Bull Mountain Road inviting the public to come into the church and shop. Janet Savage, Michele and Rachel Maxwell, and Sarah, James and Andrew Beck worked shifts at the Christmas Bazaar.
The items that did not sell were left on display, so church members from the 8 AM and 10 AM services, as well as the Korean and Latino congregations, had a chance to browse and shop, too. The bazaar made just under $1,000.00 total. Any items left over from the sale were either returned to the parishioner(s) who originally donated them, or given to Tualatin Presbyterian Church to sell this coming Saturday at their annual cookie and craft sale.
The next St. James’ Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for December 2, 2016 from 10 AM\-4 PM. Parishioners are already making plans for next year’s Christmas crafts and baked goods sales. Mark your calendars now as you’ll not want to miss our Second Annual Christmas Bazaar!
