The purpose of this ministry is to assist the parish priest in coordinating visits and Eucharistic visits to congregants who are unable to come to church for a limited or ongoing period of time. Visits may or may not include communion depending on the desires of the person being visited. It is our wish to keep congregants connected and feeling cared for while they are not able to attend church and to meet spiritual needs of each person.
The team is made up of licensed lay Eucharistic visitors and other persons with experience in visiting the sick or homebound. Visitors will go in pairs and the second person does not need to be licensed. Persons on this team meet monthly for support and problem solving. The assigned lay Eucharistic visitor will follow up and the coordinator will notify the parish priest if there is a need or desire for a visit from the priest.
